There are many choices when it comes to hardwood flooring. Luckily, Hardwood Perfections’ flooring consultants are experts in helping you select the flooring that best fits your lifestyle.

Prefinished Hardwood Floors by Hardwood Perfections

Prefinished Hardwood Floors

  • Prefinished Solid Hardwood Floor
This type of flooring is finished in the factory and is typically the fastest and easiest to install.
  • Prefinished Engineered Hardwood Floor
These floors are made using multiple kinds of wood or wood composite veneers made of the same or different wood species. These floors are highly stable and will typically resist expanding and contracting during fluctuations in humidity and temperature.

Site-Finished or Unfinished Hardwood Floors

  • “Site-Finished Solid” or “Unfinished Solid” Hardwood Floor
Solid wood flooring is a solid piece of wood with thickness ranging from ¾” to 5/16”. Solid wood flooring can be installed above or on grade, and can be sanded and refinished several times during its service life. We apply the initial finish when we install the floor.
  • “Site-Finished Engineered” or “Unfinished Engineered” Hardwood Floor
Same as the finished engineered hardwood floor, except that we apply the initial finish upon installation instead of having it finished at the factory.

Other Flooring We Install

  • Laminate & LVP / LVT (luxury vinyl plank & luxury vinyl tile)
Laminate flooring, or floating wood tile, is a multi-layer synthetic flooring product fused together using a lamination process. Laminate flooring simulates wood (or sometimes stone) with a photographic applique layer under a clear protective layer. Laminate flooring can come in planks but also in tiles.

Hardwood flooring design options and custom woodwork

Here at Hardwood Perfections, we have our own in-house woodshop, which means the choices for customization are limitless! Here are a few examples of custom woodwork we can do:

Medallions add a beautiful, luxurious look to any hardwood floor. We can incorporate multiple shapes and wood species to create a truly unique personalized circular, square, or oval design.

Pattern & Parquet Floor Installations

Pattern and parquet wood floors often incorporate a criss-cross or grid pattern. This isn’t the low-quality parquet floor tile you typically see in cheap apartments. Instead, using real wood, we can highly crafted and stylish patterns.

Custom Border Installation

This option creates a frame effect. They typically use multiple wood species, stone, marble, brass, stainless steel, nickel, and other metals, and are an elegant way to make a room really standout from the rest.

New stair treads, risers, rails and custom staircases

If you have wood stairs in your home, it’s good to have it match your new or refinished hardwood floor. We can install new stair treads, risers and rails, and stain them to match so they don’t look out of place.

We can also create and install a custom staircase that will give your interior a truly unique look.

Stain/color matched base shoe molding installation

Whether you’re refinishing your hardwood floor or installing a new one, it’s also essential to have shoe molding that matches. We can match the stain or color of your floor to your shoe molding to ensure rooms continue to have an elegant, refined look.

Most Common Floor Finishes Today:

  • Waterborne / Water-based Urethane
Environmentally friendly, durable, and easy to maintain, this finish has is low VOC (volatile organic compound (VOC), and tends to be more resistant to ambering or yellowing over time than oil-based finishes.
  • Conversion-Varnish Sealer (Swedish Finish)
Also known as “Swedish Finish,” this is an extremely durable and chemically resistant finish, which gives the wood floor depth and grain clarity. It’s not without its disadvantages, though, including a strong odor while drying, high VOC, and ambering effect over extended time-frame.
  • Hard Wax Oil Finish
This type of finish contains wax and is absorbed into the wood. It then hardens to form a protective seal. It has a low luster and gives the wood floor a more natural appearance. This is a very eco-friendly “Green” finish option, with very low VOC content. It may require periodic maintenance-base reapplication, and it does not have a strong chemical resistance.
  • Penetrating Oil Sealers
As the name implies, these finishes penetrate into the wood and seal it against moisture, leaving no surface film. This is a very eco-friendly “Green” option, with very low VOC content. Like a hard wax oil finish, it may require periodic maintenance-base reapplication and does not have a strong chemical resistance.
  • Minwax Dura penetrating Oil-based stains
These are oil-based pigment stains used to change the color of a wood floor prior to application of a sealing finish. Over 30 colors are available, and by mixing and matching we can create a nearly infinite number of patterns and styles.
